State

California is facing a health care crisis.  Deep cuts to Medi-Cal and Health Families, and the elimination of the Indian Health Program and other community clinic grants, have crippled the State’s safety-net system.  The sustainability of Urban Indian health organization’s (UIHO) medical, dental, mental health, substance abuse, and wellness programs are in jeopardy.  The situation is dire for the growing number of uninsured and unemployed American Indian individuals and families in California.
